SF Food Bank benefit show

Tommy Guerrero's Get Rad Six
Marc & The Casuals and Tommy G's Get Rad 6 are getting together this Tuesday, December 30 for an early, 8:30 p.m. start time, three-set extravaganza at the Hemlock Tavern. The evening benefits the SF Food Bank, as well all of you kind generous folks looking for a shot of r' & b' as well and some bugged-out funk and jazz grooves.

TOMMY GUERRERO was a teenage skate god in the mid 1980s. Since 1995 he's channeled his relentless energy into a string of engaging, cinematic post-hip-hop recordings, including two solo records for the über-chic Mo' Wax imprint.

Marc & the Casuals
"The seldom seen, but often recorded, Marc and the Casuals are a groovy yet disciplined deep soul/pop instrumental combo. Lead by longtime Virgil Shaw and American Music Club pianist, Marc Capelle, this all-star interplanetary 21st century Wrecking Crew features some of the Bay Area's finest musical minds and dressers.

Especially special for this spectacular is a hydra-esque horn and percussion section featuring: Carroll Ashby, Tom Griesser, Darren Johnston, Amber Lamprecht on the horns; Todd Roper, Dave "Conga" Douglas, and Tony Sevener on percussion, drums, and the shaking and hitting things. Also, we are extra honored to be joined by Mark Eitzel, who will be blowing your minds and soothing your soul, as a featured guest vocalist, wailing away like a velvety cross between Billy Paul and Captain Nemo, soulfully submerged in a sea of instrumental grooves.

In that this is New Year's Eve Eve, you can dress anyway you want, dance as you wish, avoid a Korbel champagne toast, and gain entrance for a very nominal door charge, to a show which benefits the very worthy SF Food Bank.

(For the sake of clarification, for at least this week, and this show: New Year's Eve Eve is the new Thursday.)
