TANGIENTS is a post-punk, ambient “gaze-pop” duo based in Los Angeles. Chelsea Ray’s intense, yet dream-like vocals can pierce as well as float over Be Hussey’s (GUIDES, Radar Bros.) thick wall of sonics, resulting in a noisy, aggressive, yet ethereal sound.
LUCKYANDLOVE released their debut LP on vinyl through Southern Record Distributors and Forced Exposure in 2017. The band formed in 2014, their name inspired by a Chinese bar, called “The Good Luck”, where the duo met. Loren played drums in April’s previous band, but this time around they wanted to create electronic dance music. The problem: Since they were also grinding away as graphic designers by day, the last thing they really wanted was be on the computer some more at night. The solution: they began constructing songs with just analogue synths, sequencers and electronic drum pads with hopes to produce live concert performances to the likes of Moog’s sound lab.
LUCKYANDLOVE currently write and record in their music studio in Echo Park, California. The band is looking forward to recording new tracks with 2017 Grammy winning Be Hussey (also in TANGIENTS who they are currently touring with) at Comp-ny studio and also with legendary producer John Fryer (This Mortal Coil, Nine Inch Nails, Cocteau Twins, Love and Rockets, Depeche Mode) with plans to drop more singles soon.
“…Electrowave and synth-wave, blended with cold-wave … an excellent record in hand which music sites and the dedicated “synthetic” media will discover sooner or later. A good band with a good record, and an excellent sound that came to light in acknowledged studios by some really skilled people. ” – Noise Journal
“Electropop … with an early 2000s vibe. Arise from the glorious era of the feminine Electropop movement. Here the musical roots are particularly good to hear. Especially worth mentioning is the very well articulated and transformable voice of April Love.”- Electro Zombies
STEILACOOM is a San Francisco based coldwave duo meshing the shoegaze, wall-of-sound sensibilities of Astral’s singer/ guitarist, Dave Han, and darkwave bassist, Rob Hanson. The band’s 2017 debut release is a vinyl 7” single on colored vinyl (50 olive green, 250 blood orange) and features two songs that would’ve nestled nicely in London’s early 80’s Batcave scene alongside the Cure, Sisters of Mercy, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Bauhaus, and Joy Division, but are more likely the elusive missing link to the post-punk revivalists of today.
“The washed-out vocals, reverb-soaked guitar layers and hypnotic beat form the basis of one of the best shoegaze-meets-The Cure tracks in recent memory” – Performer Magazine
“With its ability to make your body involuntarily groove in the most desirable way, I can envision this track on the dance floor at any goth night in the near future” – Strange and Delicious
